Q: Why does Point Strategic Communications focus on small to medium-size companies?
A: Marketing is nothing more or less than explaining to consumers in the most persuasive way why they should buy your products or services. Companies that do this are the companies that grow. We want to be part of our clients’ real growth and take them to that next step. We also want to work directly with decision-makers rather than someone down the line. That’s more likely to be the case with small to medium-size clients than with big companies.
Q: Why do we offer specific pricing for what we do instead of charge hourly rates like most agencies?
A: We’ve designed our process to be efficient as well as effective. Efficiency is a function of experience, so we can make a pricing commitment. Equally important, our clients typically haven’t established a formal marketing or promotional budget. By pricing our services, we’re helping them do this in the most transparent way. It encourages your trust in a way that’s generally unique to us.
Q: In what other ways are we different from other consultants and agencies?
A: Many consultants maintain an active presence for too long with their clients. One of the reasons companies use outside marketing resources is to avoid fixed overhead. Once we’ve finished our work for you, you want us to be gone as an expense. This doesn’t mean our relationship with you is over. We continue to stay in touch, but not with the immediate objective of selling you on our next project.
Yet another difference is our conscious effort to fit in with your company’s culture. It’s not your job to adjust to our way of doing things, but it is our job to adjust to yours. If we can’t achieve compatibility, we cannot work together in the most positive, productive way to realize our agreed upon goals for your business.
Q: What is our goal for our business in relationship to yours?
A: Simple: to be your “best value” supplier. Marketing communications is not a commodity-based purchase. Pricing alone should not determine whom you work with. Value – the ratio of price to performance – is what you look for. Value is what we strive to represent to our clients. Marketing that works is by definition a self-liquidating expense. That’s what we try to deliver to our clients.
Q: Do we work with a contract?
A: No. Contracts are worthless without good faith. We work with a less formal Letter of Agreement that specifies what we’re going to do for you, fee-simple pricing and compensation terms (half at the Letter of Agreement’s inception and half when your project is completed).
